Last week we took our very first Winston vacation as a family of 4 (Every other year we have taken our summer vacation to visit family in Texas- and now since we actually live in Texas we get to take an actual vacation- yay!)! This year we decided to try out the JW Mariott in San Antonio. On Monday we all loaded up in the car and drove the 5 hours in the car. The girls actually did really good the entire time and we were happily surprised when we got the the hotel and they upgraded us to a big suite since Matt is a platinum Mariott member! Guess there is a small upside to all the travel that he does ;-)
They upgraded us to a big suite the had a big king murphy bed, huge balcony, bathroom, full kitchen AND it attached to the room we actually reserved with another king bed and bathroom! It was amazing and such a great surprise! It worked out perfect because the kids stayed in the bedroom (with Gracyn stashed in her bathroom in the pack and play), and we got to stay up, watch TV, sit on the balcony and just enjoy some adult time in the suite all by ourselves. It was AMAZING!
The JW Mariott was so beautiful. It was truly amazing and we never ran out of things to do. There is a lazy river, splash pool, adult pool (no idea what it was like), beach entry pool, and three water slides. Plus its about 5 minutes from a huge shopping center with lots of restaurants and stores so you could easily leave the resort for dinner if you wanted a change of pace. We definitely plan on returning.
As soon as we got settled in our room (ahem...suite...) then we threw on our bathing suits and headed down to the pools.

When did she get so big?
Attempt at a family picture. Yes that is chocolate on Gracyn's face because obviously she comes to the pool only to eat the entire time.
Day 2 (Tuesday) we decided to hang out at the hotel and just play, play, play all day long. Gracyn LOVED playing on our balcony and sitting and looking down below.
Gracyn is going through a crazy "I only want Mommy" phase so that meant Daddy & Avery were on their own to go ride all the slides, and I was left with Gracyn...which was the perfect opportunity for a impromptu photo shoot.
The girls did so amazing this trip. They exceeded our expectations. They were well-behaved, easy going, happy, sweet, energetic little girls. And they LOVED playing together! That was the best part!
That evening we left the resort to go eat at Lupe Tortilla. We used to eat at the one in Houston a lot when we lived there so we were excited to see there was one close to the hotel.
To sum it up the first two days we just ate, slept, swam, and relaxed. It was completely 100% perfect!
- stay tuned for the rest of the vacation posts!!!!
