I assure you that we had an amazing Christmas this year. So much fun in fact that I did not take any pictures except this one of Walker surrounded by our post-gift unwrapping explosion.
Avery was awake waiting in her room when my alarm, aka Walker, went off at 6am. After feeding him, grabbing a quick coffee and turning on some Christmas tunes we went upstairs to wake our little elves up. Avery was of course already awake but we woke sweet Gracyn up. It only took her a few seconds to get her bearings before she realized it was Christmas and we hightailed it downstairs to see what the big guy left us.
Santa was generous this year. He left Avery a hula hoop, rainbow loom bracelet maker, some board games, kinetic sand, a soccer goal and her #1 request of a princess dress play doh maker.
Gracyn got a pink Barbie Volkswagen, baby stroller and high chair, kinetic sand, board games and her #1 request of a pink princess phone.
And all of that is in addition to the amazing gifts that our family sent to the girls also. Honestly the girls got some awesome stuff this year and we are so grateful to all our family.
After all the excitement of Christmas morning wore off I started to feel a little crummy and since Connor had just been diagnosed with the flu and my mom was diagnosed with strep throat and we were all together just a few days earlier, I felt like I had no choice but to go to the ER. Under normal circumstances I would have waited until the 26th to go see a doctor but with a 9 week old baby at home and with Matt having a business trip planned for the 27th I knew I needed to start on antibiotics as soon as possible. $150, 2 nasal swabs, and throat swab later and I was officially diagnosed with Flu B. I was (and still am) shocked because really my only symptom is a sore throat and a little fatigue, which could possibly be attributed more to Walker than to the flu. I guess that is the benefit of the flu shot because even if you do get it, you get it way easier and shorter than normal.
I was sent home with pain meds and orders to stay away from everyone, so as lovely as a vacation to my bed may sound I was a little bummed to have to be isolated in my room on Christmas. I was looking forward to playing with all the new toys and loving on my kiddos all day. Here's hoping that I kick this thing quickly AND that none of the kids get sick! Merry Christmas to us!
