It's Only the Beginning

Yep.  That's right football season has officially started.  Well for us it started at the end of July when Matt reported for training camp, but now the real games are actually starting and you know what that means.  Lots and lots of adorable outfits for the girls.

Our weekend kicked off with the Aggie game on Saturday and the girls had a blast!  We watched the game with some friends and had a great time!

Aren't their outfits precious.  A big thank you to grandma and papa john for these cute duds that they got last time we were in College Station.

Gracyn prepping for all the yells..... :-)

peace.love. and aggies = perfect saturday :-)

Then if the girls were not confused enough on Saturday (who are the aggies?  why do we say gig em?  what are we even talking about????) then things got really confusing come Sunday when we were all dressed up to cheer on the Dolphins (Go Fins!)  but then we still were cheering for Uncle Eric's game too (Go Chiefs!).  Poor girls had a hard time keeping up. But they had a blast playing the Go Chiefs game which consisted on one girl getting up, yelling "Go Chiefs" doing some crazy silly jump and then doing the indian call with her hand over her mouth.  They probably played it for 45 minutes.

I just had to include this picture below because it totally cracks me up because this is how they normally look when i say "say cheese!" all crazy fake smiles, and often not even looking at the camera.

but then sometimes i get this......priceless.....

Sadly enough all the Miami Dolphin outfits or "Go Chiefs" games could not save either team today.  So sad.  To take the edge off we spent the rest of the afternoon hanging around the park.  I am LOVING this cooler weather so much!

Monkey See

Monkey Do!

We had a great weekend, although not one single team of ours pulled out a W.  But there is always next weekend!  Have a great week!

Opposites Attract

It never ceases to amaze me at the difference in personalities my two girls have.
I gave each of them a sheet of stickers (the free Disney ones that come in the mail when they try to convince you to join their movie club.... Ummm no thank you but thanks for the free stickers). So sweet little Avery hemmed and hawed over all the stickers for about a full 2-3 minutes before carefully choosing the perfect one and sticking in the most optimal spot on her shirt.

Then I glance over at Gracyn to see this.....

She obviously had no problem choosing and no hesitation at all where to put them.

Never a dull moment with these two amazing, but very different little girls. I love it so much.

First Day Jitters (from me, not the girls!)

It was the first day of school today!

I know I am in the minority when I say this but I was not ready for it.  I really did not want the kids to start back up.  Starting school signifies a more stringent schedule for all of us, going back to work for me, and more time away from my girls.  Plus I had (have?) a little anxiety about sending Gracyn because she seems so young!  I'm worried about her potty-training, napping, etc.  It's the whole "what will she ever do without me?!" thing, when in actuality she is completely and totally fine.  So this day was giving me a teensy bit of sadness/worry/excitement all at the same time.

I think Avery was totally excited because this little monkey was up at 6AM sharp this morning talking about how she "really, really loves school!"

So I whipped up some home-made banana pancakes (a first day tradition in the Winston house)

And then got the girls dressed up in their first day duds to take the obligatory 1st day pics.

I think I got some good ones.  Avery is in Pre-K this year with Ms. Liles, and Gracyn is in the Old Ones class with Ms. Dawn and Ms. Becki.

We dropped Avery off at her class first because I thought Gracyn might see her sister do it and follow suit.  Well Gracyn thought she was supposed to stay with Avery in her classroom, and was a little upset when I told her she had her own class to go to.

My big 4 year old!  How is it possible??

Avery and Ms. Liles.  Avery ended up with Campbell in her class again (it must be pure fate because we don't request for them to be together but this is the second year in a row!) and a boy named Cole who were in her class last year also.  I can't wait to get to know all the other students in her class and their parents!

I don't have any picture of dropping Gracyn off in her class because I made my departure quickly because I knew it was going to be a tough one, for both of us!  She started crying when she realized where we were and that I was leaving.  I started tearing up because I didn't want to leave her and because I can't believe my baby girl is big enough for school!

I had to rush straight to work, which was a good distraction but I did worry a little about Gracyn.  "Is she going to nap?"  "What if she had an accident at school?"  So of course I was the very first parent to arrive to pick her up (ahem....I may have been 5 minutes early.......ahem)  and she was happily sitting at the table with her friends, just smiling away.  The teachers said she cried a little on and off, had a little trouble understanding why they were laying on nap mats to sleep, and didn't want to leave recess.  But they did say she did great and that she was "so smart!"  They didn't seems to reassuring that she actually slept (they said "umm she took a while to understand what we were doing but she closed her eyes a little"  which sounds a little to me like "NO she didn't nap") but she did not have any accidents!!!!!!  She stayed dry in her big girl panties all day long, which i consider an accomplishment.  But she was definitely just as happy to see her momma, as I was to see her :-)

"We made it!!!!"

Of course Avery did great on her first day, so we all had to go out to get some fro-yo to celebrate!

Overall it was a great day and I know once we all (me included) get the hang of the new schedule around here it will be a great year!

31 on the 31st

Last Friday I celebrated my 31st birthday!  I am calling it the "lucky one" because I turned 31 on the 31st....I'm choosing to believe my 31st year is going to be lucky all year long :-)

I was spoiled rotten with lots of cards, texts, email, facebook messages, and calls from family and friends.

And I gotten woken up to these two sweet babes, and their handsome Daddy who surprised me with a new hear-rate monitor sport watch for working out (I have been wanting one forever!) and a gorgeous new pair of shoes for the fall.

Then my parents kept the girls that night and we had a night out on the town with the Burgesses and my sister and her fiance.  It was such a blast and the most perfect night.  It was full of food, drinks, and constant laughter-----the perfect day!

My girls :-) Don't know what I would do without these two

Then Matt and I stayed down at a nearby hotel so we could sleep in and relax before picking up the kiddos in the morning.  The funny/not funny thing was that we BOTH woke up at about 6:15am and could not fall back asleep!  Ahhhh so annoying but it was still nice to relax, drink our coffee and watch anything but the Disney channel on TV.

Love my baby sis and it was so fun getting to have a night out with her and Matt squared (both her fiance and my husband are named Matt!)

It was so amazing to get to spend some time with my hubby, who has been traveling a lot since the beginning of August.  He spoiled me rotten and made me feel like a princess all weekend long.  I am so blessed to have an amazing husband.

The on Saturday after we picked up the kids, we went to a Labor Day party a friends house.  It was honestly the most perfect, laid-back day spent with the kids, my girlfriends and our hubbies.  I am loving these last few days of summer!

I am so blessed to get to spend my birthday with all my family and friends.  Once again I could not be more grateful to be home again.  God is good!
