Avery had her end-of-the-year dance recital a few weeks ago and as predicted it was just about the cutest thing I have ever seen. This year they did a little tap number to "Ladybug Picnic" and let me tell you these little Ladybugs brought down the house.
It was so neat to see their dance abilities progress over the past year and I have to say that our little ladybug Avery just may have a knack for this dance thing, although she will tell you that gymnastics is her sport of choice. Either way we had a great time watching her!
Sorry for the delay on the blog postings but like I said it has been crazy around here. On the exact same day we found out the gender of the baby we also closed on our new house. Plus the following week was the NFL draft and we also began kitchen renovations a week later, all added in with regular life and I don't have any time to blog! (But I am sure most of you saw the big reveal on facebook already!)
The backstory for the gender reveal is that Matt and I are usually not "wait and see" kind of people. We like to find out the gender immediately and always as early as possible. Here in Texas (I finally get to deliver a baby in Texas!) my doctor sends us to a perinatologist at 13 week and while they are checking for everything else they can detect gender with 92-96% accuracy. Well go figure that my perinatologist appointment was on a week when Matt was out of town. And since this is most likely our last baby I really did not want to find out the gender all by myself in a doctor's office and I really did not want to share the gender with Matt over the phone ("Hey babe, it's a boy! Ok now get back to work. Love ya, bye"). Not super exciting. So I fought every natural impulsive tendency that I have and decided that on my appointment day, which was a Monday, I would have them seal the gender in an envelope and we would all open together as a family when Matt returned home, which was supposed to be the following Friday. So I rode around with this little puppy for a week.
For some of you that may not be that big of a deal, but patience is not my best virtue. After the doctor's appointment I went home and put that envelope in my bible, so to hopefully keep me honest. And it worked! I honestly didn't peek at all.
At some point in the week we decided to do the cupcake thing, where we took the envelope to a bakery and had them secretly fill it either blue or pink, so that when we took a bite we could tell what gender we were having. We just thought the girls would understand it more that way, plus we would get to eat delicious cupcakes, which is always a win. So we picked up these gorgeous things on Friday.
Luckily Matt caught an early flight home and we were able to find out the gender on Friday. Special thanks to my family who rearranged their schedules last minute to come over a day early to help us celebrate.
So here we go! (lots of pictures to follow!)
What's it going to be?
I just want to mark it down so I will always remember that Avery has sworn that it was going to be a boy from Day 1 and she wanted to name her new brother Ryan, which I love but find hilarious because she doesn't know anyone named Ryan. And Gracyn was certain that she wanted the baby to be a girl and name her Keira (which is the name of the Barbie Princess Popstar for those who are not familiar). I really had no inclination either way. I assumed it was a girl since that was our trend but i really had no "feeling" or anything.
Avery and Gracyn took the first bites of the cupcakes...... what's it going to be?
IT'S A BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So baby #3 is a BOY! We are over the moon for this little guy already. We are so grateful for a healthy little baby boy! Now I need to figure out how to shop for things that are BLUE!
We are so blessed and we thank God daily for all the blessings in our life. Please enjoy our blog and please check back frequently for updates.-The Winston Family
