'Da Boys

If you can actually believe it, since it really only is July, football season has officially started. Training camp started last week to kick off the new 2014 season..... Whether we like it or not.

So needless to say Matt is already in full swing preparing for the upcoming football season. Like I have said a millions times, summers in the Winston house go waaaaaay too fast.

But one upside to training camp starting is that Uncle Eric signed with a new team! We are so excited for their new adventure and already trying to plan for which game we are going to come see. Congrats Eric and Jenny! We love y'all!

The other little fella in my life is having a rough go for the past week.

Actually most of the time he looks like this....

But the teething and a week-long of congestion has finally caught up with him so the doctor put him on breathing treatments as needed today so hopefully we can nip this in the bud pretty quickly so we can get back to his ACTUAL problem which is mommy-itis aka obsession with his momma.

This kid only has eyes for his Mommy or Daddy. He will
not go to anyone else. No exceptions. I put him in the gym nursery for the first time in a while and he went ballistic only lasting 20 minutes before I was called in to get him. I've obviously gone through this phase with both the girls and I know I need to stay consistent and keep putting him in the nursery and eventually he will get over it, BUT it's such a rough ride and so heartbreaking to get him to that point. The upside is I know eventually he will get there, and so will I :-)

Mickey Cures All

Walker has officially discovered Mickey Mouse. He stops moving and becomes transfixed anytime he hears it on the TV. I may or may not have used it to help him feel better during his cranky afternoon time. Thank God for Mickey.

Cupcake Wars

I'm not sure I've ever blogged about the love my girls have for Cupcake Wars (a Food Network show) most especially Avery. It started about a year ago when I was attempting to find a show that both her and I could watch AND enjoy, and she has been hooked ever since. It's hilarious. She loves the cooking aspect obviously but I think likes the competition and creativity the most. At least once a day I hear her upstairs playing Cupcake Wars saying "only ten minutes left!!! We have to hurry!"

Even now and again I get her some real ingredients to make her own designs. Yesterday they decided to make cupcakes for a baby shower and set it up on a elaborate display when they were all done. It provided hours of entertainment and a yummy snack for all of us!

Instagrams

I hope they always feel that a trip to Costco necessitates tiaras

My sunshine boy up early, ready to eat!

Nothing is cuter than a boy in a baseball cap.

Who wore it best?  Twinsies.
Sidenote: as previously mentioned Walker will not got to anyone other than Mommy or Daddy, however he had no problems going to Uncle Drew and letting Drew hold him.  Could it possible be because Walker might have thought he was his Daddy?

No words for this character

No way, I love you more Avery girl!

How Walker likes to grocery shop now.  Awesome.

These two are always up to shenanigans of all sorts

Chalking is very hard work. Definitely requires a sweat band.

Avery: "Look Mommy I figured out how to do Notes on my ITouch and I wrote my first one to you!"

Daddy Time

Daddy has loved being home this summer and has loved soaking up some quality time with all the kiddos.
He took the girls on a sweet Daddy-Daughter date night to the FC Dallas game on Saturday and the girls had a blast!  They had sno-cones, played games, stayed up late and cheered on the FC Dallas soccer team.

Walker is also quite a fan of Daddy and likes to help him cook breakfast in the mornings.  Daddy is pretty lucky to have such a cute little helper.

A Doctor in the Family

We have had a whirlwind of a past month going to the doctors a grand total of 14 times for our family.  Yes 14 times.  We have had the gamut of diagnosis- pink eye, strep throat (times 3), stomach bug, hand foot and mouth, impetigo, sinus infection, double ear infection, and colitis.  Yikes!

Avery had had the brunt of the illnesses and has the leading score of gong to the doctor 7 times in the past month for a variety of things.  Both girls are starting to get pretty comfortable in their home away from home.

It has been unreal.  And frustrating.  And tiring.  BUT we have all officially been fever free since last Thursday so hopefully we are out of the woods!  Fingers crossed.

4th of July

4th of July was quite a roller coaster for us.  We were so excited to go out to my parents lake house and meet my sisters and their families out there but within 20 minutes of arriving poor Avery girl got stung by a yellow jacket, not once but TWICE!

And then the day after we got there Gracyn caught a pretty serious tummy bug that had her throwing up every few hours for almost THREE days!

We finally had to go to urgent care in Brownwood for poor Gracyn who got diagnosed with a severe stomach bug AND strep throat, and Jessica had a staph infection on her finger and a sinus infection.

We were a mess I tell you but that did not stop everyone from celebrating the 4th with food, drinks, fireworks, family and fun.  Just the way it was meant to be.

In all honesty the lake trip could have been a little easier for out family because on top of Gracyn's illness, Walker is going through a rough phase where he will only go to Mommy and Daddy, which is frustrating when there are 6 willing and eager adults ready to help out, BUT we had a great time hanging out with everyone and soaking up some much needed family time.  Hopefully next time we can get away without a trip to urgent care ;-)

Walker 9 Month Appointment and Pictures

I finally got around to taking Walker's official sticker-on-the-belly 9 month pictures.  Pretty darn cute little 9 month old if I do say so myself.

Walker also had his 9 month appointment today with our favorite Dr.Crowe and everything went great! Not only did he not have to get any shots (hallelujah!) but she was very pleased with how well he is growing and developing.  Here are his stats:

Weight: 21 lb 4 oz  (61%)  (at 9 months Avery 20 lb 12 oz and Gracyn 17 lb 11 oz)
Height: 29.5 inches (85%) (At 9 months Avery was 30 in and Gracyn: 29 in)
Head 18.5 in (90%)

9 Months Old!

Happy 9 Months Walker!

What You Did This Month- 9 months old

Weight: ? his 9 month DR appt is next week and I am dying to know how big he has gotten!

Length/Height: ?

Head Circumference: ?

Diaper Size: Size 3

Clothing Size: all 6-9 and 6-12 month clothing now

Sleeping Habits: Sleep 6ish PM- 7AM almost every night. You are an amazing night time sleeper but the day time naps are getting a little iffy.  You take 2 really short naps, when you either need to be taking 2 long naps or 3 short ones and you refuse to nap past 1PM which makes the hours from 1-6 a little iffy.  I hate this for you because I watch you make yourself overtired every single day.  I'm not totally sure how to make you a better day napper but it is going to be my new goal this next month.

Eating Habits: This kid eats.  Everything.  All day long.  No matter what food you offer he eats it.  Its pretty awesome to have such a great eater.

Milestones: You are crawling  everywhere so fast now.  We had to put the stair gate up finally because you were trying to get upstairs constantly.  You are pulling up everywhere and easily lowering yourself up and down without any issue.  One day your Daddy and I saw you stand independently for about 2 seconds but haven't seen you do it again.....yet.

You still have NO teeth.  I keep telling myself that it will be any day now and I hope it will for you because your gums seem swollen and I bet they are so uncomfortable.

You are so silly and playful.  You love for us to try to "catch you" and you are constantly laughing and playing.

You are waving at everyone now and it's hilarious.  We are still working on clapping but your almost there.

You really only prefer Mommy or Daddy to hold you.  You don't tolerate it from anyone else which is sweet but also tough because even when we have family around to help us out, you won't go to them.

You are pretty bashful initially and always bury your head and smile when somebody tries to talk to you.

Walker- you are just the sweetest, most adorable little guy and we can not get enough of you.  We love you big boy!
