Baby Ella Boo

Baby Ella or "Eya" as Walker calls her came to visit us last weekend and it was so much fun!  I haven't seen Ella since she was a week old and my kiddos have never met her, so needless to say she was showered with lots and lots of attention.

They had so much fun making her laugh, and smile, and also beating Uncle Drew at Just Dance.

Baby Ella- try to talk your parents into coming again very, very soon- or possibly just moving her to i can smuggle your sweet face all day!

Avery's 8th Birthday

How is it possible that we have an 8 year old? I can still remember the night before she was born so vividly.  I was so scared I barely slept and so excited I could barely stand it.
This year Avery wanted a really small sleepover but wanted to take her friends to go "do a few fun things."  So she picked her friends Campbell and Haley and we went ice skating at the Galleria followed by dinner at American girl.

They were so excited to ice skate but I think it surprised them that it was a little more difficult than they anticipated.  I skated too so I could help Gracyn and we had a blast.  We lasted about an hour and a half before all our feet were hurting and we were pooped.

Luckily a little shopping at the AG store helped revive everyone and all 3 of the older girls chose to get their dolls' ears pierced.

Then we trekked back home for cookie cake, facials, fake nails, popcorn and a movie before lots of giggles to put themselves to bed.  It was the perfect, intimate all-day party.

Then today was Avery's actual birthday.  She helped me prep by making her very own Reeces ice cream cake, and of course she got to lick the bowl all by herself, per tradition.

Last night as a 7 year old!

And boom I wake up to a 8 year old.  Slow down time!

Avery at 8 years old is better than I could have possible even imagined.  She is kind, thoughtful, silly, fun, sporty, smart and so funny.  She is tender and caring with her brother and sister, and loves to be my sidekick around the house.  She loves to read and has just only started to watch the "tween" shows on Disney.  She is still one of the tallest girls in her grade (and wears a size 4-5 shoe!) and loves to play soccer on the field during recess with all the boys and girls.  She says she wants to be a baker with her friend Campbell when she grows up, but only after she goes to Texas A&M to go to "real college" and then she will go to cooking school afterwards.  She is smart and most of the time level headed, and thankfully avoids the drama that is just now starting to rear its ugly head upon the girls in her 2nd grade class.  She can be forgetful and slightly on the messy side, and is now starting to care more about her clothing choices and wants to wear "cool" outfits, which is usually skinny jeans and converse, or any sort of athletic wear.  She still thinks boys are "eeewwwwww gross" and boasts a pretty solid group of great girl friends who love to get together to play, with a new found love of all things Barbie and American Girl.  She does great in school and seems to catch on easily, usually making mistakes only when she is trying to go to fast.
Avery is truly such a great kid.  She is honest, and sweet and kind and I could not be more proud of the kid that she is today.  Its hard for me to watch my baby grow up but it is amazing to watch her turn into such a fantastic person.
Happy Birthday sweet Avery K!  We can't wait to see what age 8 brings you!

Catching Up

It has been a while since I have had a chance to update the blog but I wanted to make sure I didn't miss out on any of the fun stuff we have been up to!

The girls accompanied Daddy to another Daddy Daughter Dance and they had a blast!  I am not sure who enjoys it more- them or Daddy :-)

Walker and I embarked upon the fun road of potty training and it has been eventful.  Honestly he caught on to it really fast and if it wasn't for his hard-headedness and desire to argue with me about everything he would have potty trained in 2-3 days.  But we stuck with it and he is really doing awesome.  I'm pretty proud of my big boy.

Soccer season has started back up and I love it so much.  Avery is on the FC Ponies again this year and Gracyn is with a new team called the Kickin' Cuties.  They are both loving soccer so much and I love our soccer Saturdays.

For Spring Break we got a surprise trip from the Yadon's who came to stay for a few days and THANK GOODNESS they did because it rained nearly every day.  The cousins loved the play time and the mommies loved the sister catch-up time.

Noni came to Texas for a trip and came by to meet Walker and catch up with the kiddos.  We had so much fun visiting with her.

During Spring Break we celebrated Connor and Avery's birthday a few days early with donuts and a big water fight in the rain puddles.

I hate when I get behind on this blog because Avery has recently started reading some of my old blog books and she loves reading about the things that she did when she was younger so I know these blogs are something my kids will always treasure.
