Summer Lovin'

As soon as the kids got out of school we headed to San Antonio for our family vacation, and then we rushed back for dance recitals, and then I took off on my Mexico trip so this past week was my first real week of actual at-home summer activities and we started it off with a bang!  We spent many nights at the community pool just swimming the night away, unless your Walker who basically just shows up for the snacks.

And then Sunday we celebrated the best Daddy in the whole wide world for Father's Day.  He obviously lives in Dad City ;-)

Father's Day was well timed this year because it came right after Matt spent a week doing the single parenting thing while I was in Mexico.  And he obviously nailed it.  He takes on parenting so easily, so effortlessly and without ever complaining and it was such a blessing to know the kids were in the best hands while I was gone.  I feel honored to get to spend life with Matt and watching him being a Daddy is one of the biggest blessings of my life.

Monday afternoon we decided to try out the new waterpark that is attached to the gym we go to and the kids LOVED IT!  It is so fun, new and amazing and I see us spending lots of summer afternoons here.

We loved the waterpark so much that we convinced our besties the Burgess' that they needed to try it out and we so selflessly decided to join them again on Tuesday afternoon.

We are so lucky to have a big network of friends who all have kids the same age as ours so that we can almost always find somebody to play with each and every day.  Conveniently we all go to the gym together so the kids get to play most mornings while the mommies get a little exercise time.  These kiddos have grown up together over the past 4 years and they all love one another so much.  These little relationships make me so happy and watching these kids grow up together is so fun.

The rest of the week the girls got to go to a movie with Nana & Papa, go to another local splash park, go to a friends house to swim, and then Matt took the girls to a FC Dallas game last night. Phew!  Obviously we took this summer stuff pretty seriously last week so we have 3 very happy, sun kissed, tired little babies.  I love summer so much!

Dance Recitals

The excitement I feel on the girls' recital day is pretty close to how I feel on Christmas morning.  It is so exciting and obviously fun as a Mommy to get your little girls all glammed up, and dressed in beautiful costumes to watch them dance onstage.  It is just pure joy watching them and they both did such a great job this year!

This was Gracyn's very first year ever trying dance and she was enrolled in a combo ballet/tap class.  She learned so much and seemed to have such a great time.  Her class performed ballet to "Somewhere Out There" for the recital and it was one of the most adorable things I have ever seen.  We are so proud of our little ballerina!

This is Avery's 3rd dance recital (she did one when she was 4 years old and one when she was 5 years old) but this year she wanted to be a "really serious ballerina" and was in a strictly ballet class that was 2 hours each week.  She danced to the "Turkish March" and did amazing.  Her skill level and ability to know all the dance positions was so impressive.

Both the girls did awesome and we are so impressed with how much they learn this year at dance and the best part (other than the adorable recital costumes) is that they seemed to have an absolute blast!

The girls were pretty lucky to have a fairly large cheering section with Aunt Alli, Nana & Papa, and Grandma & Papa John all coming to cheer them on.

Viva La Mexico

It seems like we have been planning it forever but the trip my sisters and I got my mom for her retirement (back in January!) finally arrived!  We packed up all our bathing suits, hats and dresses and headed off for a week of fun.

We went to Puerto Morelos which seemed to be right in between Cancun and Playa Del Carmen and it was great!  We randomly picked a hotel and it ended up being awesome.  The only drawback was that the beach had a fair amount of seaweed but the hotel worked tirelessly to pick it up all day long.  But we were all impressed with the hotel and all the amenities, and lets be honest just going to a pool or beach and putting sunscreen ONLY on myself and getting to lay there and read a book is a win regardless of how much seaweed there was.

I can not remember the last time I went on a trip with my sisters when one of our kids or husbands weren't present, so it was super fun to just laugh and be silly with my best friends all week long.  We had a great time and as always the trip flew by way too fast.

San Antonio Summer Vacay 2015

After taking last year off, and never hearing the end of it from the girls, we knew that our annual San Antonio trip was going to be back in full effect this year.  We headed out on a Sunday and made the trek to our favorite hotel and got started with all the swimming fun immediately.

One night we drove about 30 minutes to visit New Braunfels and Gruene for some delicious dinner and some even better after dinner music and dancing.

On the 3rd day we took the kiddos to their favorite part of the whole trip----SEA WORLD!!!!

We had a great time watching every single show and then cooling off at the Sesame Street splash park.  We all had such a good time!

The trip was cut a day shorter than normal because we had to get back home to prepare for the girls dance recitals, but we squeezed in as much fun, swimming, nighttime s'mores, and lots of laughter in as possible.  We can't wait for next year!

Avery's End Of Year Excitement

As soon as May hit I feel like we had a million things to do, mostly for Avery and her school and her activities.  She had a recital dress fitting.....

a school carnival where she dominated the rock wall in record time (obviously she's a natural)

Finished out her 4th season with the FC Ponies (notice the black eye in the picture from falling while practicing soccer with the boys on the playground as well as the skinned knee.  This girl is no joke)

Celebrated Field Day with her awesome 1st grade class...

Bridged from being a Daisy Scout to a Brownie Scout

And finally she finished out her AMAZING 1st grade year with her wonderful teacher Mrs.Womack and her fantastic class.  She has grown and matured so much this year and we could not be more proud of her.  The teacher gave the class candy-themed awards and Avery got the Laffy Taffy award because "she always makes each day and learning fun."

And just like that we have a 2nd grader............ (sniff sniff)

We have so much fun supporting Avery and cheering her on at all her activities!  Way to go Avery girl- we are so proud of you!
